The General Manager is responsible for everything that happens during a shift, including cost, inventory, and cash controls; staffing and paperwork; food management; customer relations and service; store cleanliness; marketing; profitability; attendance and punctuality; and adherence to company policies, procedures, image, and standards. The manager sets an example for the crew and ensures that team members meet expectations. The role also includes general store-team duties such as operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The job description also includes delivery-related tasks and requirements, including delivering products and flyers, a valid driver's license with a safe driving record, and access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery. The work may involve standing and walking for much of the day, handling deliveries and supplies, climbing stairs or ladders, and working around hot equipment, moving parts, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, and varying temperatures and weather. Team members must be able to communicate with customers and coworkers, process orders, perform basic arithmetic and make change, use a computer keyboard or touchscreen, and work alone or with others under stress while meeting quality standards.
