General Manager - North America

We are recruiting a General Manager North America for one of our clients, a global leader in machine safety solutions and one of the world's leading manufacturers of optoelectronic safety sensors and safety controllers. With more than 60 years of expertise, the company has built a strong reputation for innovation, engineering excellence and product quality. Present in more than 60 countries, it supports industrial manufacturers, OEMs and automation specialists across a wide range of industries. As its North American subsidiary enters a new stage of development, the company is seeking an entrepreneurial and commercially driven leader to lead operations across the United States and Canada, accelerate growth and contribute to the long-term success of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience within industrial B2B environments, in industrial automation, machine safety, sensors, controls or related technical industries.
  • Proven track record in business development, sales leadership and general management responsibilities.
  • Experience managing distributors, OEMs, system integrators and indirect sales channels is highly desirable.
  • Comfortable managing a P&L, leading cross-functional teams and operating within a lean organization where strategic thinking and operational execution go hand in hand.
  • Recognized for strategic vision, commercial leadership and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Combine a hands-on approach with the ability to build and communicate a clear direction for the business.
  • Comfortable operating in an international environment and collaborating closely with European headquarters.
  • Fluency in English is required.

  • An MBA or advanced business education would be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the company’s activities across the United States and Canada.
  • Define and execute the North American growth strategy in close collaboration with the Group leadership team.
  • Identify market opportunities, optimize market coverage and strengthen the company’s presence through distributors, OEMs, system integrators and manufacturer representative agencies.
  • Drive commercial performance, develop relationships with key customers and strategic partners, and support the sales team in achieving sustainable growth.
  • Oversee the subsidiary’s overall performance and assume full responsibility for its P&L.
  • Manage operations, implement performance indicators and ensure the organization is structured to support future growth.
  • Supervise the relationship with the company’s third-party logistics partner.
  • Manage and develop the local team, foster accountability and engagement, and create alignment around a clear vision and common objectives.
  • Act as the face of the company in North America and serve as a key bridge between the local organization and the European headquarters, contributing to the long-term development of the business.
