About The Position

Taste Buds Kitchen is opening its first location in San Antonio in July and is seeking a General Manager & Lead Culinary Instructor to play a critical role in its success. This individual will be responsible for teaching cooking classes, managing daily operations and staff, creating an exceptional guest experience, and serving as a natural leader. The role involves direct interaction with guests to foster a supportive community, making the General Manager the "face of the studio." The position requires open availability, including nights and weekends, as the business operates seven days a week. Initially, the role will involve 50%-75% of time spent instructing classes, with this decreasing as the business and team grow. The General Manager will also assist the owner in setting up and running the new business.

Requirements

  • Open availability, including nights and weekends.
  • Comfortable with a range of cooking techniques; formal culinary education or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in an events, hospitality, or experiential retail role.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a management position.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Must enjoy the atmosphere of a small business.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct cooking classes, camps, and parties, engaging and teaching guests about various cooking/baking skills and ensuring a memorable experience that drives repeat business.
  • Ensure all clients have a great experience through excellent customer service.
  • Lead, coach, and schedule a high-energy team, acting as an emergency substitute if an employee cannot attend their shift.
  • Manage inventory, food preparation, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive revenue through bookings, upselling, and event execution, meeting monthly revenue and profitability targets.
  • Maintain high cleanliness and brand standards in the kitchen facility.
