About The Position

The General Manager is a professional-level sales and management position responsible for supporting both sides of the business. The role requires knowledge of store and automotive systems, parts, and the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and provide project assistance for DIY customers. The General Manager develops and maintains Professional Customer relationships and program growth, achieves financial metrics, and maintains service and appearance standards. This exempt position requires a minimum of 50–55 hours per week, excluding meal breaks. The average schedule is 5–6 days per week, with 11-hour shifts and an hour for lunch. The schedule includes rotating nights and weekends, and additional hours may be required according to staffing, store conditions, sales targets, and other business needs. General Managers work a schedule based on the needs of the business. The role is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance.

Requirements

2–3 years of experience managing a team of 10–20 Team Members in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
Successful experience managing profitability and demonstrated financial and business acumen.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to communicate effectively, build strong relationships with Customers, peers, and upper management, and speak and write English.
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel effectively.
Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percentages.
Ability to review and analyze business reports, including profit and loss statements.
Ability to hold others accountable, inspect work quality, and provide inspiring feedback.
Ability to work a mix of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Ability to become ASE P2 certified or achieve an equivalent ASE-ready level.
Ability to locate and stock parts; source parts from multiple channels, including special orders, FDO, and second sources; and perform advanced parts lookup and sourcing.
Ability to execute and train project and product quality recommendations, store operational processes and procedures, DIY testing and diagnostic equipment, inventory systems and store equipment, and POS and parts lookup systems.
Ability to recruit, select, hire, and develop Team Members and build and grow relationships with Professional Customers.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including predominantly walking or standing; talking and hearing; handling objects; reaching; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; and frequently lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives.
Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including developing and holding the team accountable for executing Customer action plans.
Select, hire, develop, manage performance, coach, schedule, and engage store Team Members.
Ensure execution of inventory and operational standards.
Coach Team Members to meet Customer expectations for both DIY and Professional customers.
Perform manager-on-duty responsibilities, including touch-base coaching, floor and phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, and opening and closing duties.
Lead change management.
Embrace diversity and foster a respectful environment for Customers and Team Members.
Provide DIY services, including battery installation and testing and wiper installation.
Assist the District or Region with other functions upon request.
