About The Position

Restaurant Associates, a leader in dining and event catering for prestigious institutions, is seeking a hospitality-driven General Manager with a proven track record in high-volume food service operations within premier client environments in New York. The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the account, ensuring exceptional service delivery, operational excellence, and financial performance, while aligning with budget expectations and client goals. This role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with employees, guests, and client stakeholders, acting as a trusted partner and ambassador. The ideal candidate will inspire teams through positivity, professionalism, and accountability, fostering a culture of engagement, development, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced setting. Success hinges on delivering an elevated hospitality experience that exceeds client expectations.

Requirements

  • Eight to ten years of upscale food service experience as a GM or similar leadership role.
  • Six years of experience at the management level.
  • Experience in personnel management, including hiring, supervision, evaluation, and succession planning.
  • Proven track record to achieve company goals in compliance with company/client policies and procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Supervisory, scheduling, training, and coaching skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, stay on task, and concentrate with constant interruptions.
  • Experience in food purchasing, food costs, and inventory control.
  • Ability to create budgets, flash reports, financial targets, and forecasts.
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures and reconciliation of multiple cash banks and reports.
  • Must be knowledgeable on HACCP controls, along with proper storage and use of food.
  • Exceptional business etiquette and client relations.
  • Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong catering experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • ServSafe or Department of Health certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Driving team performance and supporting the professional growth of staff.
  • Cultivating strong cross-functional partnerships for seamless integration of dining services.
  • Participating in employee meetings, reviews, and training programs.
  • Managing in compliance with the Company's established policies and procedures.
  • Managing in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintaining food cost while ensuring quality standards for a high-volume corporate dining operation, including pantry and catering.
  • Establishing and maintaining good rapport with staff, clients, guests, and other departments.
  • Managing financial acumen, including financial reporting, sales reports, P&L reports, writing and adhering to annual budgets, and cash handling.
  • Analyzing and creating trends for financial data.
  • Managing purchasing and inventory controls.
  • Planning menus in consultation with chefs.
  • Ensuring knowledge of HACCP controls, proper storage, and use of food.
  • Monitoring compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving.
  • Managing time effectively and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
