About The Position

The General Maintenance role completes work order service requests in support of store operations, performs preventive maintenance, and oversees contractors providing routine services such as housekeeping, landscape maintenance, and pest control. The role requires broad mechanical aptitude and working skills across building trades, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical work. It supports corporate facility maintenance, energy conservation, and waste management programs.

The position performs a variety of preventive and reparative maintenance tasks, including electrical and plumbing repairs, basic HVAC-related maintenance, mechanical repairs to store equipment, and building repairs. It maintains equipment needed for the work and performs periodic building-operation tune-ups to support energy conservation and waste-management efforts. The emphasis is on performing a variety of maintenance tasks rather than possessing a high degree of skill in one particular trade. Work is performed under general supervision using established procedures, with occasional independent judgment to complete assignments and frequent recommendations about work procedures, policies, and practices.

Requirements

• High school education or one to two years of vocational training.
• High mechanical ability.
• Verifiable experience in maintenance-related work fields.
• Experience demonstrating skill in various building trades, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical work.
• Willingness to work with and oversee the work of others.
• Good customer-service attitude and a polite, engaging, and courteous demeanor.
• Able to meet the stated physical requirements, including lifting requirements, working outdoors in inclement weather, and using gross and fine motor skills, vision, hearing, and speech.

Responsibilities

• Complete work order service requests in support of store operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance and oversee contractors providing routine maintenance, including housekeeping, landscape maintenance, and pest control.
• Perform electrical repairs, including lamp changing, light fixture repair and installation, and diagnostics.
• Perform plumbing repairs, including pump and fixture installation, replacement and repair, drain cleaning, and diagnostics.
• Maintain a basic understanding of commercial heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
• Perform basic mechanical repairs on tractors, forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, and other equipment as required.
• Repair the building, including painting, wall repair, minor carpentry, and floor repair.
• Perform periodic building-operation tune-ups to support energy conservation and waste-management efforts consistent with corporate programs.
• Maintain equipment necessary to perform the work.
• Complete preventive and reparative maintenance involving electrical maintenance, mechanics, hydraulics, carpentry, masonry, cleaning, and repairing or installing pieces, components, and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work with and oversee the work of others.
• Make recommendations regarding work procedures, policies, and practices.
