About The Position

The General Maintenance role performs routine and corrective maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime. Work includes welding and fabrication, equipment installation and alignment, maintenance of air, vacuum, and hydraulic systems, and repairs to building fixtures and process piping. The role also maintains the shop, tools, and parts, and requires working at heights and in confined spaces. The position is based at the Champaign Plant.

Requirements

• Previous welding and fabrication experience in a maintenance role.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work safely at heights.
• Weekend availability.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience with pipefitting, plumbing, or steam.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on production equipment, including conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and fillers or packaging equipment, to minimize downtime.
• Perform welding and fabrication, including stainless-steel work and sanitary repairs.
• Install new equipment, including moving and setting it, leveling and aligning it, anchoring it properly, and test-running it.
• Maintain steel, air, vacuum, and hydraulic systems.
• Install or repair building fixtures, including doors, windows, and piping, and perform some light masonry work.
• Diagnose and repair leaks, clogs, and mechanical failures on process piping, pumps, and fittings; replace gaskets and seals.
• Maintain the maintenance shop, tools, and parts; inspect and safely operate shop and welding equipment.
• Work at heights and within confined spaces.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
