About The Position

SA-TECH is seeking a General Maintenance Worker for their Composites Shop in St. Inigoes, MD. This full-time, non-exempt position will support engineering, testing, prototyping, repair, and production facilities. The role focuses on product preparation, specifically as the primary technician in the dip room where chemical coatings are applied to various metals. The ideal candidate will be positive and possess product prep skills, particularly with chemical coating processes.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of general shop experience, with knowledge of basic power tools.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Solid organizational, computer and communication skills.
  • Must have (or be able to obtain within the first 60 days of employment) an overhead crane (CAT III Non-Cab) certification.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend job orders and technical documentation to ensure appropriate chemical conversion coatings are applied to proper metals.
  • Must be proficient with computer operation and the ability to update order tracking and work status.
  • Current Maryland Driver’s License required.
  • Must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal trade school, college, or military training school.
  • Prior experience applying chemical conversion coatings to various metals according to technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, as well as cleaning up working areas, machines, and equipment.
  • Assists journeymen by holding materials or tools and performing other tasks as directed.
  • May be permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by more senior workers, depending on the trade.
  • Applies chemical conversion coatings to various metals according to technical specifications.
  • Updates order tracking and work status using computer systems.
  • Obtains overhead crane (CAT III Non-Cab) certification within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Reads and comprehends job orders and technical documentation to ensure proper chemical conversion coatings are applied to the appropriate metals.
  • Works outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with fall protection harness.
  • Works in temperatures ranging from 0-120 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Works in areas with hazardous chemicals and may be required to wear PPE.
  • Performs overtime as required.
