About The Position

SA-TECH is seeking a General Maintenance Worker for their Composites Shop at the St. Inigoes, MD complex. This full-time, non-exempt position will primarily support product preparation, specifically involving the application of chemical coatings to various metals in the dip room. The role requires a positive individual focused on product prep skills and the chemical coating process. The company, SA-TECH, is a well-established DoD contractor with a 34-year heritage, specializing in a range of services including range operations, weapons testing, facilities management, and technical support.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of general shop experience, with knowledge of basic power tools.
  • Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Solid organizational, computer and communication skills.
  • Must have (or be able to obtain within the first 60 days of employment) an overhead crane (CAT III Non-Cab) certification.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend job orders and technical documentation to ensure appropriate chemical conversion coatings are applied to proper metals.
  • Must be proficient with computer operation and the ability to update order tracking and work status.
  • Current Maryland Driver’s License required.
  • Must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
  • Prior experience applying chemical conversion coatings to various metals according to technical specifications is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, as well as cleaning up working areas, machines, and equipment.
  • Assists journeymen by holding materials or tools and performing other tasks as directed.
  • In some trades, the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, holding materials and tools, and cleaning working areas, and in other trades, the worker may be permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by more senior workers.
  • Performs specialized product prep duties, including applying chemical conversion coatings to various metals according to technical specifications.
  • Obtains overhead crane (CAT III Non-Cab) certification within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Reads and comprehends job orders and technical documentation to ensure proper chemical conversion coatings are applied to the appropriate metals.
  • Updates order tracking and work status using computer systems.
