Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four (4) years' experience in one or more of the following construction trades: painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, or electrical.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
  • Possession of valid driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
  • Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows – understanding how work moves through a company.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry‑standard software.
  • Knowledge of customer service practices – principles of providing quality service and managing inquiries professionally.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles – awareness of proper handling of sensitive information.
  • Communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Time management and prioritization – balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Problem‑solving and critical thinking – analyzing issues and selecting appropriate solutions.
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills – building rapport and collaborating effectively with others.
  • Attention to detail – producing accurate, error‑free work.
  • Employees must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness.
  • Ability to move throughout the property , including accessing multiple floors, stairways, and mechanical spaces
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position and/or move about the property for extended periods during inspections or issue resolution
  • Ability to operate standard maintenance tools and office equipment
  • Ability to position self (e.g., bend, stoop, kneel, reach) to inspect or access equipment and areas requiring maintenance
  • Ability to move items of moderate weight (e.g., up to 25–50 lbs), or coordinate assistance when needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tenants, staff, and vendors
  • Employees must always maintain a constant state of situational awareness.
  • Work is performed in a combination of office, residential/commercial, indoor, and outdoor environments
  • Regular movement throughout the property is required, including common areas, mechanical rooms, and exterior spaces
  • May encounter variable environmental conditions , such as: Weather changes (heat, cold, rain, snow)
  • Noise levels from equipment or building systems
  • Occasional exposure to dust, odors, cleaning agents, and building materials may occur
  • Requires interaction with tenants, employees, vendors, and contractors in both routine and time-sensitive situations
  • Work may involve responding to urgent or emergency situations outside of standard business hours
  • Use of standard office equipment (computers, phones) as well as occasional use of maintenance tools or equipment
  • This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.
  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.
  • As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results.
  • If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing general maintenance, minor preventive maintenance and repair of interior and exterior of buildings, sanitation systems, low voltage electrical systems, and components associated with military family housing and bachelor's quarters facilities, at various locations.
  • Maintains, repairs, and replaces doors, woodwork, paneling, drywall, and floor coverings.
  • Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
  • Performs occasional painting or touching up of structures or equipment.
  • Performs minor preventive maintenance actions, including but not limited to changing air filters, lubricating fittings or components, performing inspections and taking readings.
  • Repairs or replaces plumbing fixtures such as sinks, faucets, and toilets.
  • Replaces broken windows.
  • Provides daily reports of task performed at the end of the workday.
  • Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing that pertains to particular trades or skills.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
