About The Position

VGS is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to support operations and maintenance requirements at Winn Army Community Hospital on Fort Stewart, Georgia. The role involves general maintenance and repair of installed equipment and systems, including equipment powered by steam, electricity, gas, air, diesel, water, or other energy sources. The technician also helps maintain facility cleanliness, supports the maintenance team, keeps timely maintenance and repair records, and follows applicable safety procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or one to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Maintain a valid state driver license.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic using all units.
Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to use common-sense judgment to follow detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write simple correspondence.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to drive, walk, or travel to locations within the facility and satellite locations.

Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance and repairs on installed equipment and systems, including boilers, compressors, refrigeration equipment, generators, air-conditioning facilities, and associated equipment.
Patrol, inspect, and maintain mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping, and plumbing systems and equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance as appropriate.
Repair toilet facilities, registers, radiators, lights, fixtures, and floors as needed.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces and assist other maintenance team members as required.
Maintain records of maintenance and repairs and submit them in a timely manner.
Follow safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
Carry out other position-related duties as assigned.
Take reasonable care for personal and others’ health and safety, follow safety instructions, and report hazards and dangerous situations.
Report environmental impacts resulting from Valiant’s activities, products, or services.
Participate in achieving departmental and company QHSE objectives and targets.
