Applicants must have a certificate of qualification or have at least 3 years experience in areas covered by an apprenticeship within this skilled trade. Aerospace and experience with Lean Manufacturing is an asset.

Requirements

Completion of secondary school is required.
A combination of 3 - 5 years of work experience in the trade
English (Written and Spoken) required.
Require Criminal Record Check.
Ability to set up and operate all CNC Grinders to close tolerances.
Machine Time: 3 years and up
Excellent blueprint reading ability including thorough understanding of geometric, dimension and tolerancing.
Fully capable of all aspects of CNC cylindrical grinding skills and practices.
Fully capable of machine cycle and tool optimization.

Nice To Haves

Aerospace and experience with Lean Manufacturing is an asset.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret engineering process sketches, charts and tables.
Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision CNC precision cylindrical grinding, surface thread grinding, internal and external bore, diameter angles and other operations.
Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, verniers, callipers, height gauges, optical comparators, or other specialized measuring instruments.
Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, height gauges and other measuring devices.
Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor.
