Applicants must have a certificate of qualification or have at least 3 years experience in areas covered by an apprenticeship within this skilled trade. Aerospace and experience with Lean Manufacturing is an asset.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • A combination of 3 - 5 years of work experience in the trade
  • English (Written and Spoken) required.
  • Require Criminal Record Check.
  • Ability to set up and operate all CNC Grinders to close tolerances.
  • Machine Time: 3 years and up
  • Excellent blueprint reading ability including thorough understanding of geometric, dimension and tolerancing.
  • Fully capable of all aspects of CNC cylindrical grinding skills and practices.
  • Fully capable of machine cycle and tool optimization.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace and experience with Lean Manufacturing is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering process sketches, charts and tables.
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
  • Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision CNC precision cylindrical grinding, surface thread grinding, internal and external bore, diameter angles and other operations.
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Verify dimensions of machined parts or tooling using micrometers, verniers, callipers, height gauges, optical comparators, or other specialized measuring instruments.
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, height gauges and other measuring devices.
  • Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor.
