About The Position

Level 2 CNC machinist responsible for processing, programming, and setting up prototype and production parts. This role involves operating 3-axis CNC machines, selecting and ordering appropriate tooling, running production and rapid prototype jobs, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and inspecting parts to meet customer print requirements. The machinist will also assist in developing lower-level machinists and perform CNC and manual lathe and mill setups.

Requirements

• Ability to safely operate, understand, and set up many pieces of CNC equipment along with other manual pieces of equipment.
• Ability to read and understand drawings.
• Good communication skills to relay to other machinists and managers the status of current jobs, problems, and any other pertinent work information.
• Job hour estimation.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of G and M codes (preferred at NFT Machine Shop).
• Good knowledge of GD&T.
• General math skills, including basic trigonometry and algebra.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Level 2 Certification in MasterCam (preferred at NFT Machine Shop).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot problems of parts being manufactured and find solutions to correct the problems.
• Inspect one-off and multiple-piece orders to meet customer print requirements.
• Help develop lower-level machinists as instructed.
• Perform CNC and Manual Lathe and mill setup.
• Fixture creation (preferred at NFT Machine Shop).
