About The Position

The General Laborer is an entry-level production position at the Sedalia plant. Laborers may be assigned to different areas, most frequently the furnace department or the grill cleaner production line. The position reports to the Shift Supervisor and has no direct reports.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts.
• Able to stand for extended periods.
• Able to work in extreme heat and a dusty environment.
• Able to operate a forklift; training is provided.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Basic computer skills.
• Able to follow standard work and procedures.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move material by hand, pallet jack, and/or forklift.
• Transfer material between processes or manufacturing equipment.
• Remove Foamglas blocks from metal pans and place them into the cooling oven.
• Process product to customer specifications.
• Inspect product before packaging and ensure packaging is correct.
• Operate packaging and process equipment.
• Stack, box, and/or palletize material.
• Package material for shipment to customers.
• Provide break relief and fill in for absent employees.
• Take appropriate actions to maintain material flow.
• Dispose of defective or unsalvageable material.
• Perform general cleanup and maintain good housekeeping conditions.
• Observe safety policies and practices.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the shift supervisor.
