About The Position

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is accepting applications for full-time, year-round General Laborers to work at various jobsites. The role involves outdoor work in all seasons, manual labor, and performing a variety of tasks throughout the day. Work may include flagging and traffic closures, preparing and cleaning job sites, digging trenches, supporting excavation sides, removing debris and waste, and installing erosion and sediment controls. Laborers are expected to follow the company’s health and safety policies and maintain positive working relationships with customers and co-workers. Work starts between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM; overtime, nights, and weekends may be required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Able to work outdoors in all seasons.
• Comfortable working alongside heavy equipment and communicating with operators, workers, and pedestrians.
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces with safety equipment and training.
• Able to regularly perform moderate to heavy lifting (more than 15 pounds), pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and squatting.
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
• Must wear safety-toe boots, long pants, and shirts with four-inch sleeves; required PPE includes a hard hat, safety glasses, Class 3 vest, and gloves.

Responsibilities

• Perform flagging, traffic closures, and related tasks as assigned.
• Clean and prepare sites; dig trenches; set braces to support excavation sides; clean up rubble and debris; and remove waste materials.
• Install erosion and sediment controls, such as silt fence, super silt fence, and gutter buddies.
• Perform manual labor tasks to support projects.
• Work on a variety of tasks throughout the day.
• Meet the company’s health and safety culture, policies, and requirements.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and co-workers.
• Wear required work clothing and personal protective equipment.
