About The Position

The General Laborer is responsible for the installation of final parts on fire apparatus, paint prep, sanding, and preparing welded ladders for inspection. This role involves using a variety of basic hand tools and potentially some welding to complete installations on fire apparatus. All employees are expected to support Rosenbauer's Mission, Vision, and Values. The scope and duties of this position may change based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing facility
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Standing 85% of the time
  • Bending 15% of the time
  • Some sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Relocate or move 50 lbs
  • Knowledge of machines and tools
  • Knowledge of raw materials and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Controlling operations of equipment and systems
  • Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Inspecting and evaluating the quality of products
  • Using mathematics to solve problems
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Read blueprints
  • Possess basic math knowledge
  • Read tape measure
  • Possess a satisfactory safety record and be aware of others safety, including own
  • Reliable, responsible, dependable
  • Confer with supervisors to plan and review daily work activities
  • Attention to details
  • Adhere to all company policies
  • Forklift Certification
  • Overhead Crane Certification
  • Standing and walking for the majority of the shift
  • Use of feet, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time
  • Use of knees, legs, back, shoulders, and arms can vary from 15 minutes to 60 minutes
  • Reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling to complete job tasks
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
  • Housekeeping – clean and sweep areas
  • Install bracket, guards, chains, and covers
  • Follow wiring schematics
  • Install switches, lighting, and electrical boxes
  • Maintain good quality work with proper PPE in a timely fashion
  • Clean and prep parts
  • Organize parts on racks
  • Operate overhead crane and forklift as directed
  • Help wherever is needed on the shop floor
  • Sanding and preparing welded ladders for inspection by UL
  • Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor
