About The Position

The General Laborer wraps, boxes, weighs, and palletizes 40 lb and 640 lb blocks of cheese in cardboard or plastic containers. The role also includes washing, sanitizing, and assembling 640 hoops, and cleaning equipment that is not cleaned through CIP. The position works in a fast-paced production environment and follows safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices. The listed pay range is $22.45–$23.10 per hour; offers are based on skills, relevant experience, degrees and certifications, and internal equity. The range is specific to New York and may not apply to other locations. Hours are 9:30 PM–6:00 AM.

Requirements

Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.
Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices.
Ability to read and prepare production reports and understand production worksheets.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Ability to communicate with line personnel about information in production materials and about quality and safety issues.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
MES experience.
SAP experience.
Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Wrap, box, and weigh 40 lb and 640 lb blocks of cheese in cardboard or plastic containers.
Ensure product labels and weights are accurate.
Keep accurate production records.
Ensure package integrity.
Gather supplies as required.
Attach bags to the block former.
Observe equipment and cheese as they move through production lines.
Report problems to the supervisor.
Clean and sanitize equipment as required, including equipment not cleaned by CIP.
Wash, sanitize, and assemble 640 hoops.
Follow stated safety policies and procedures.
Produce products in accordance with customer and consumer quality and value expectations by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, policies, and procedures in the Safe Quality Food Program.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
