About The Position

The General Laborer will perform all duties assigned by any supervisor such as site preparation, material handling, assisting skilled tradespeople, cleaning up debris, and performing manual labor as needed, ensuring adherence to safety regulations. This role also involves cleaning, washing, and general housekeeping and inspection of FKEC fleet vehicles, trailers, property, and substations. Responsibilities include rust removal and treatment from metal, including priming and painting vehicles, equipment, and FKEC property. The position also entails operating lawn mowers, weed eaters, and performing general landscaping and herbicide application on FKEC grounds. Emptying trash bins and general job site clean-up are also key duties, along with assisting with FKEC fence installation and maintenance. The responsibilities listed are a guide and not all-inclusive for the essential responsibilities of the position. Marginal responsibilities include delivering material and vehicles as requested to alternate FKEC facilities or Miami, assembling office furniture, and performing other related or assigned duties as requested.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
Must use cybersecurity best practices and use responsible conduct in online environments and while using email.
Observe and practice all safety policies and rules.
All applicants are subject to passing a background check and a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Previous maintenance and labor experience is desirable but not required.
Two (2) years of previous general labor experience is desirable.
Knowledge of various tools is desirable.
Should be familiar with or have the ability to learn to operate the essential tools used in the plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical trades.
Also familiar with various hand tools, power tools, lawnmowers, etc.
Must have or be willing to learn forklift operation.
Class A CDL License preferred.
Residency requirement: Worker for this position is not required to live within the FKEC service territory, but it is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

Operate lawn mower, weed eater, and general landscaping.
Herbicide application on FKEC grounds.
Empty trash bins and general job site clean up.
Assist with FKEC fence installation and maintenance.
Deliver material and vehicles as requested (alternate FKEC facilities or Miami).
Assemble office furniture.
Perform other related or assigned duties as requested.
