About The Position

This role involves various physical activities and requires attention to detail in a hatchery environment. The General Laborer will be responsible for tasks such as lifting, cleaning, and operating equipment, while adhering to safety protocols. The position requires the ability to work in varying environmental conditions and to be flexible with working hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Requirements

• The ability to see small details at close range and differentiate color.
• The ability to stand for long periods of time.
• The ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects using both hands and good finger dexterity.
• The ability to lift 10 to 50 lbs. and repetitively lift 20 to 25 lbs. above head and below knee.
• The ability to work in hot, cold and or wet environment.
• The ability to count accurately, up to 100.
• The ability to work hours required, start time may vary when the process requires and working until the process is complete (no set time).

Responsibilities

• Lifting trays of eggs and baskets of eggs or ducks to a height of approx. 6 ft. and as low as approx. 8 inches from the ground.
• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials, equipment and cleaning equipment.
• Following schematics.
• Wearing common protective or safety equipment such as hairnet, beard guard, dust mask, gloves, smocks, aprons, boots and ear & eye protection.
• Working weekends and holidays as needed, usually on a rotation basis.
• Using pressure hose and garden hose and working with production cleaning products.
• Climbing ladders and working on top of machinery.
