About The Position

Oakland County is seeking a Part-Time General Helper- Custodial to join their Facilities Maintenance & Operations – Building Custodial team. This role is crucial in maintaining County buildings, ensuring offices and public spaces are clean, organized, and welcoming for employees and the community. The position offers a competitive pay range of $16.71-$22.61 and is an onsite role. The General Helper will play an essential part in the daily experience of everyone who enters the facilities.

Requirements

Have passed their 18th birthday; OR be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate; OR have completed the state requirements for the General Educational Development Test (GED); OR be an emancipated minor.
Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.
Successfully complete the six month probationary period.

Nice To Haves

A valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license will be required for certain positions. Out of Country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.
Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license (for positions which require driving).

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain County offices and buildings by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing surfaces.
Empty waste receptacles and ensure workspaces and common areas remain neat and presentable.
Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms with necessary supplies.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies to support daily operations and facility needs.
Receive, unload, and store deliveries as needed.
Help maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment for employees and visitors.
