About The Position

This role is responsible for the onsite coordination and management of all lineman, apprentices, and groundman. This includes maintaining the highest quality, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities. This position reports to a Superintendent of the Power Division.

Requirements

  • Availability to travel throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks and delegate to linemen, apprentices, and groundmen.
  • Knowledge of power line construction project administration, contract compliance monitoring, and construction methods.
  • Successful completion of a lineman apprenticeship training program and journeyman status, plus four years of journey-level lineman work experience.
  • Must be able to work within time controls and troubleshoot issues.
  • A valid, class A CDL is required.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with plans, specifications, site, local codes, local officials, and inspection procedures.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent to develop project schedule.
  • Inspect work practices, tools, and equipment, fall protection, safety devices, etc.
  • Fill out daily report.
  • Attend weekly General Foreman meetings to coordinate crews and equipment in order to achieve project objectives.
  • Schedule and attend all required inspections.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork as required.
  • Communicate, implement, and enforce company safety policy as it pertains to assigned project.
  • Attend required job meetings and/or any other meetings as may be required for the successful and timely completion of the project.
  • Meet weekly with Superintendent to discuss work/safety performance.
  • Supervises field crews engaged in the maintenance and repair of electrical wires, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Conducts regular and unannounced inspections of work in progress to ensure completion according to specifications, work schedules, and applicable municipal codes.
  • Works closely with HR and Safety crews to complete policy requirements such as drug and alcohol testing, annual reviews, and updating employee files.
  • Works with the foreman to oversee the preparation of and complete staff performance appraisals.
  • Initiates and administers disciplinary actions as required.
