Typical working hours are 4:00 PM – 4:00 AM or 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM, based on project needs. Weekend work and extended hours are frequently required to meet project schedules and customer commitments. The General Foreman provides hands-on leadership and field oversight for construction and cabling crews during overnight operations. This role is responsible for ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, schedules, and budgets. The Foreman serves as the primary on-site point of contact, coordinating crews, verifying readiness, managing materials, and supporting installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting activities as required. This position supports Network Connex’s commitment to operational excellence, safety, and workforce development.

Requirements

  • Mechanical inclination with the ability to understand, operate, and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, construction practices, and communication networks.
  • Familiarity with cable installation practices, including dressing, lacing, labeling, and termination.
  • Understanding of fiber optic cable types, construction, and manufacturer specifications to prevent cable damage.
  • Knowledge of cable testing procedures, acceptance criteria, and documentation standards.
  • Awareness of inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) safety practices.
  • Understanding data center security processes and adherence to site access requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and splice diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions based on available information.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets Company requirements.
  • Ability to travel away from home, including overnight and weekend travel.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of fiber testing equipment such as EXFO and Anritsu
  • Familiarity with mass fusion splicing equipment such as Fujikura 70R and 90R
  • Overhead and underfloor conveyance systems
  • Structured cabling installations
  • Fiber optic splicing, testing, and documentation
  • Copper termination and patching
  • Rack and row placement and equipment staging
  • Support of tenant fit outs and core & shell construction activities
  • Prior experience in construction, fiber, or structured cabling environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead field crews from project initiation through completion, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and schedule adherence.
  • Review project documentation with the crew to plan installation activities, determine installation methods, and confirm material readiness.
  • Supervise the tracking and control of all on-site inventory, tools, and materials.
  • Collect, review, and submit required closeout documentation in alignment with project deliverable timelines.
  • Train and mentor crew members on safety and quality standards.
  • Verify that crew members hold the appropriate certifications, training, and skillsets to perform assigned work scopes.
  • Maintain issued equipment and report deficiencies, losses, or maintenance needs as required.
  • Submit accurate daily reports detailing on-site progress, production metrics, safety observations, schedule risks, and material needs.
  • Provide hands-on support for fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and remediation when required.
  • Ensure compliance with inside plant (ISP), outside plant (OSP), and data center security requirements.
  • Support frequent weekend work and extended-hour shifts as dictated by project demands.
