The General Foreman is a skilled position responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely and on time. The role plans ahead to anticipate issues and project needs and normally supervises six to eight crews, depending on crew size and geographic distribution, or as directed by the Owner. The General Foreman coordinates and inspects crew work, schedules and assigns tasks, maintains records and paperwork, and ensures vehicles, equipment, and tools are kept in good working condition. The position also supports crew members, maintains customer and public relations, and communicates project information and issues to customers and crews. The General Foreman leads, trains, and coaches team members in proper natural and directional pruning techniques; interprets engineering drawings; follows the Line Clearance Contract; and participates in storm restoration when needed. The position requires safe work practices, proper use and inspection of PPE, and compliance with company safety rules and procedures. It also involves outdoor work at construction sites, sometimes in inclement or extreme weather, and may require travel, extended work at various locations, overtime, work at heights or in confined spaces, and rigorous physical labor. This is a non-union position with Burford’s Construction.
