About The Position

This job posting is for a Short Term 2026-2027 school year Puesta del Sol PreKindergarten 190-day contract. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and a current New Mexico Department of Education license appropriate to the teaching assignment, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire. The position demands efficient organizational ability, professional written and oral communication skills, and the capacity to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters. The teacher will coordinate the teaching program with site-based goals and district-wide objectives, implement approved curricula to achieve student learning at appropriate state standards and benchmarks, and arrange the physical environment of the classroom for optimum learning and safety. The role also involves using and applying appropriate conflict resolution skills with students, maintaining a positive attitude, and ensuring a classroom environment conducive to student learning. Additionally, the teacher will develop goals and objectives for self, group, and student academic achievement, provide appropriate instructional classroom activities, maintain order in the classroom, keep records of student performance and attendance, complete required reports and report cards, and maintain appropriate contact with parents/guardians regarding student progress. The position requires competent technology skills and adherence to the Code of Ethics. Work hours are established in the employment contract, with potential for additional hours assigned by the School Principal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Current New Mexico Department of Education license appropriate to the teaching assignment with applicable endorsements or ability to obtain proper licensure within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates teaching program with site-based goals and district-wide objectives

  • Provides appropriate instructional classroom activities for students
  • Maintains order in the assigned classroom
  • Maintains records of student performance and attendance
  • Completes required reports and report cards within prescribed time frames
  • Maintains appropriate contact with parents/guardians regarding student progress, arranges for and attends parent /teacher conferences
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training activities
  • Performs other job duties as assigned
