Sabey Corporation is a privately held powerhouse in real estate development, construction, and data center operations, renowned for its visionary approach, long-term stability, and culture of innovation. This role is a rare opportunity for an experienced in-house legal leader with deep real estate expertise to influence business strategy across a diverse portfolio that includes real estate development, construction, and data center operations. The General Counsel serves as the senior legal advisor to Sabey Corporation and its affiliated companies, providing strategic legal guidance across a broad range of business matters. This leader will oversee legal strategy, corporate governance, risk management, litigation, commercial transactions, employment matters, and regulatory compliance while partnering closely with executive leadership to support long-term business objectives. The ideal candidate brings significant real estate experience and a proven track record in a senior in-house legal role. You understand how to balance legal risk with practical business outcomes, thrive in dynamic environments, and enjoy partnering with leaders across an organization to solve complex challenges. You'll lead and develop a team of five legal professionals while helping shape the future of a company that continues to innovate across multiple industries.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active license to practice law in the United States.
  • 10+ years of relevant real estate legal experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a comparable senior in-house legal leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise reviewing, drafting, and negotiating leases, real estate agreements, and complex commercial contracts.
  • Proven success advising executive leadership in a dynamic and evolving business environment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to provide practical, risk-based legal guidance.
  • Experience leading and developing legal teams.
  • Familiarity with property development, real estate law, and related business operations.
  • Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority matters while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Forward-thinking mindset with an interest in leveraging emerging technologies, including AI tools and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and ownership on legal, governance, regulatory, and strategic business matters.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of five legal professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, professional growth, and exceptional client service.
  • Develop and execute legal strategies that support corporate objectives, growth initiatives, and long-term business success.
  • Oversee complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, easements, financing arrangements, leasing, and related due diligence.
  • Provide legal leadership for commercial transactions, including lease negotiations, amendments, licensing agreements, and other key contracts.
  • Manage litigation, claims, investigations, disputes, and relationships with outside counsel.
  • Guide corporate governance activities and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Partner with Human Resources and executive leadership on employment law matters, workplace investigations, policy development, and employee relations.
  • Support enterprise-wide initiatives related to AI governance, data privacy, cybersecurity, and technology use.
  • Collaborate with teams across Property Management, Construction, Data Centers, Operations, IT, Marketing, Communications, and Human Resources to advance strategic business objectives.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, and business risks across the organization.
