About The Position

A Janitor is responsible for keeping the workplace clean, organized, and disinfected. The role involves cleaning building interiors and work areas, maintaining restrooms and supplies, handling trash and recycling, and following safety procedures. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and close doors at the end of the night shift. The work environment may occasionally involve moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, electrical-shock risk, and vibration. Noise is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Demonstrate attendance and punctuality.
Be dependable, follow instructions and management direction, take responsibility for actions, keep commitments, complete tasks on time, and notify the appropriate person when an alternate plan is needed.
Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, and use equipment and materials properly.

Responsibilities

Clean building interiors, including floors, carpets, rugs, windows, walls, and other areas.
Vacuum, sweep, and mop offices, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, elevators, stairs, locker rooms, and other work areas.
Remove stains from chairs and upholstered furniture.
Dust furniture, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and moldings.
Empty and clean trash cans and ashtrays.
Disinfect commonly used items such as desks, door handles, office tools, and phones.
Clean and maintain restrooms and replenish supplies there and where required.
Wash and clean windows and mirrors.
Empty trash and recycling containers into the disposal area.
Remove trash and snow from sidewalks when necessary.
Maintain cleaning-supply inventory and request missing materials from supervisors when applicable.
Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions or conditions requiring maintenance.
Maintain a cleaning chart indicating areas cleaned and inspected.
Follow safety and precaution rules.
Lift up to 50 pounds.
Close doors at the end of the night shift.
