About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work.

Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs of equipment, supplies, or trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas and drapes.
Ability to bend/twist/balance at the waist, knees, and neck throughout the shift.
Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl while cleaning lower areas or retrieving supplies.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping surfaces, and using cleaning equipment.
Ability to perform overhead reaching throughout the shift.
Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination for equipment and tool use.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, starting in a counter-clockwise direction around the room, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height (e.g., lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges).
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces using a germicidal solution, working counter-clockwise around the room, sanitizing surfaces below shoulder height (e.g., ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trashcans).
Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls using the proper solution.
Spot clean windows using the proper solution.
Clean bathrooms using a germicidal solution, wiping down in the following order: above and below the sink, toilet seat, and the outside of the toilet bowl. Clean the inside of the toilet bowl with a Johnnie Mop and proper germicidal solution, paying attention to the rim.
Clean and check soap dispensers and paper dispensers daily, refilling as needed.
Empty trash cans, removing and replacing liners if liquid is present, and wiping down the can.
Perform floor dusting or vacuuming, starting at the back of the room and using an “S” stroke to catch dust. Dust under all furniture and in restrooms. Clean mopheads with a counter brush and dispose of dust. When vacuuming, start at the back and work towards the door, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash and cigarette butts, spot cleaning spills on sidewalks, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and policing the parking lot for trash.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, checking for cobwebs, and performing high dusting of window areas at least twice a week.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, placing chairs back under tables, spot cleaning spills, emptying and cleaning trash cans, removing dirty trays to the washroom for cleaning, and policing outside eating areas.
Perform floor sanitizing using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Conduct self-inspections after completing room cleaning, mentally reviewing steps and visually checking furniture placement, making corrections as needed.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, along with high dusting.
Engage in customer relations and service by knocking before entering occupied rooms, being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously or referring to someone who can, reporting broken or out-of-order items to the supervisor, working quietly, staying in the assigned work area, maintaining a clean and neat personal appearance, and reporting to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrubbing and buffing of floors).
