Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs. of equipment, supplies, trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas, drapes.
Ability to bend/twist/balance at waist, knees, neck throughout shift.
Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl while cleaning lower areas, retrieving supplies from lower shelves.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp and finger while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces and using cleaning equipment.
Overhead reaching required throughout shift.
Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition.
High Dusting using a treated high duster.
Sanitizing and Spot Cleaning surfaces with germicidal solutions.
Bathroom Cleaning including sinks, toilets, and dispensers.
Emptying trash cans and replacing liners.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming using appropriate equipment.
Grounds care including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and parking lots, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and cleaning public area glass.
Cleaning public common areas including dust mopping, spot mopping hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and high dusting window areas.
Food Court cleaning including tables, trash cans, and tray washing.
Floor Sanitizing using proper germicidal solutions.
Performing self-inspections after completing cleaning tasks.
Daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting.
Customer Relations and Service including knocking before entering, being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously, reporting broken items, working quietly, staying in assigned areas, and maintaining a clean personal appearance.
Reporting incomplete work assignments to the supervisor.
Performing other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction, bonneting, auto scrubbing, buffing).
