About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is a commercial cleaning business serving a range of facilities, including offices, schools, industrial and medical facilities, and retail locations. The General Cleaner performs cleaning activities in assigned buildings and facilities to keep them clean, sanitary, and orderly, along with other duties related to the assignment. The work includes high dusting; sanitizing and spot cleaning; bathroom cleaning; emptying trash; floor dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing; and cleaning grounds, common areas, and food-court areas. Cleaners inspect completed rooms, maintain courteous customer relations, report issues to supervisors, and follow safe practices when using cleaning chemicals and equipment. Other assigned duties may include floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing. Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial operations, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices and the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals according to MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment and interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the assigned duties, including extended walking, standing, or sitting; lifting and carrying 1–30 lb.; pushing and pulling with 5–35 lb. of force; climbing stairs and ladders; bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and overhead reaching.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment and tools and cleaning surfaces.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting of surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot-clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows using appropriate cleaning solutions.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks and toilets, and check and refill soap and paper dispensers as needed.
Empty trash cans, wipe them when needed, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture, and clean mopheads after use.
Clean and inspect outdoor areas, including ash urns, trash cans, sidewalks, flower beds, curb lines, parking lots, benches, vending machines, window ledges, and public-area glass.
Dust mop and spot mop hallways, clean glass, maintain planters, and check for cobwebs and debris in public common areas.
Clean and sanitize food-court tables, manage chairs and trays, empty trash, and police outdoor eating areas.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, review cleaning steps, check furniture placement, and make corrections as needed.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering occupied rooms, assist or refer customers courteously, report broken or out-of-order items, and work quietly in the assigned area.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance and inform the supervisor if assigned work is not complete by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor scrubbing and buffing.
