About The Position

This general application allows candidates to be considered by the management team for future openings when no current opening is of interest. Positions may involve greeting customers; answering questions about merchandise; selling products and advising customers on prices, features, alternatives, and accessories; assisting with specialized merchandise orders and customer carry-outs; receiving and displaying merchandise; answering phones and handling routine inquiries; maintaining sales floors and merchandise; participating in inventory activities; and moving materials with appropriate handling tools or vehicles. Other related duties may be assigned by management to support customer service, merchandising, product handling, and store operations.

Requirements

• Knowledge of retail floor sales techniques.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
• Ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues.
• Demonstrated teamwork.
• Must be able to work the majority of a shift standing.
• Must be able to lift 25 to 75 pounds and physically participate in resets, remodels, and reconstruction projects.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to visual merchandising and product placement techniques is desired.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers entering the store.
• Answer customers’ questions and provide information about store merchandise.
• Sell merchandise and advise customers about prices and features.
• Provide product knowledge and recommend alternative or accessory goods.
• Advise and assist customers in ordering specialized merchandise as needed.
• Offer or participate in customer carry-outs.
• Assist with receiving and displaying merchandise according to established policies, procedures, and standards.
• Answer telephones and handle routine customer inquiries.
• Perform floor maintenance and housekeeping, and monitor the condition and safekeeping of merchandise.
• Prepare for and participate in inventory cycle activities.
• Move materials using appropriate handling tools and equipment, including by hand, hand truck, pallet jack, dolly, forklifts, or other vehicles.
• Perform other management-assigned duties related to customer service, merchandising, product handling, and assisting throughout the store.
