About The Position

This general application allows candidates to be considered by the management team for future openings when they do not see a current opening of interest. The role involves assisting customers, selling and explaining merchandise, supporting merchandising and inventory activities, maintaining the sales floor, and helping handle products throughout the store. Duties may vary by position and may include other related assignments from management.

Requirements

• Knowledge of retail floor sales techniques.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
• Ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues.
• Demonstrated teamwork.
• Must be able to stand for the majority of a shift.
• Must be able to lift 25 to 75 pounds to move merchandise and participate physically in resets, remodels, and reconstruction projects.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to visual merchandising and product placement techniques is desired.
• High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers entering the store.
• Answer customers’ questions and provide information about store merchandise.
• Sell merchandise and advise customers about merchandise prices and features.
• Provide product knowledge and recommend alternative or accessory goods.
• Advise and assist customers with ordering specialized merchandise.
• Offer or participate in customer carry-outs.
• Assist with receiving and displaying merchandise according to established policies, procedures, and standards.
• Answer telephones and handle routine customer telephone inquiries.
• Perform floor maintenance and housekeeping, and monitor and maintain merchandise condition and safekeeping.
• Prepare for and participate in inventory cycle activities.
• Move materials using appropriate handling tools and equipment, including by hand, hand truck, pallet jack, dolly, forklifts, or other vehicles.
• Perform other management-assigned duties related to customer service, merchandising, product handling, or assisting throughout the store.
