Gearbox/Rotating Equipment Repair Tech - Decatur, IL
About The Position
ADM Mechanical is hiring a full-time, hourly repair technician at its Decatur, Illinois facility. This entry- to mid-level position involves disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and rebuilding industrial rotating equipment as part of a team. Technicians work to OEM specifications, document maintenance and repair activity, consult blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals, and test equipment after repairs, including taking vibration readings. The position is on the first shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime as needed. The stated pay rate is $29.93–$35.69 per hour, based on experience.
Requirements
- Experience disassembling and assembling industrial rotating equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work safely in a team environment and maintain a quality-conscious approach.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and sit and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools, including Vernier calipers, OD micrometers, ID micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning parts.
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts.
- Repair or maintain rotating equipment to OEM specifications.
- Reassemble equipment after inspections or repairs.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Study blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct repair and assembly procedures.
- Record parts or materials used.
- Document failure analysis and repair steps accurately.
- Test-run equipment after repair and take vibration readings.
