Gate Attendant
About The Position
A Gate Attendant/Scale Operator is responsible for accurately and efficiently monitoring and recording waste volumes entering the post collection site, as well as collecting appropriate usage fees from customers. This role involves determining the content of material entering the facility to properly bill the customer, accepting or rejecting waste loads based on content, and suggesting alternatives based on special waste, type of waste, and/or local market training. The attendant will receive payment from customers, provide receipts, and balance daily receipts for accurate recordkeeping and billing, depositing them into a safe depository. They will document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems, track total waste volume, and notify operations of special waste or other incoming special loads, processing required paperwork and performing other duties as necessary for special loads. Additionally, the Gate Attendant will answer the telephone, provide general information, and maintain the cleanliness of the work area. Other job-related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in a previous position that required the handling of cash and balancing cash and/or receipts.
- Experience with computers and various software programs.
Responsibilities

- Document the waste entering the facility, utilizing truck scales and computer systems; track total amount of waste entering the facility.
- Notify operations of special waste or other incoming special loads; direct or dispatch as necessary; process required paperwork and perform other required duties, as necessary to process special loads.
- Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
- Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
