About The Position

NM Health Network Medical Group is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified, fellowship-trained Gastroenterology Hospitalist to join its team in Lake Forest, Illinois, in the northern suburbs of Chicago. This hospital-based role focuses on inpatient gastroenterology care, consultative services, and endoscopic procedures for hospitalized and emergency department patients. The physician will work alongside established interventional endoscopists and Northwestern Medicine subspecialists to provide comprehensive patient care and will be supported by an Advanced Practice Provider to facilitate inpatient consultations and transitions of care. The position is part of Northwestern Medicine's Digestive Health Institute, an integrated digestive health program. The physician-led medical group promotes physician leadership, wellness, and work-life balance. The schedule is one week on and one week off, with 26 weeks of work per year; workweeks consist of seven 12-hour days. The role includes hospital privileges at NM Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital and use of the EPIC electronic health record system.

Requirements

Board eligible or board certified in the relevant specialty (BE/BC).
Fellowship-trained in gastroenterology.
Proficiency in upper and lower endoscopy, PEG placement, and management of GI emergencies, including GI bleeding, food impactions, and volvulus.

Responsibilities

Provide inpatient gastroenterology care and consultative services to hospitalized and emergency department patients.
Perform endoscopic procedures, including upper and lower endoscopy and PEG placement.
Manage GI emergencies, including GI bleeding, food impactions, and volvulus.
Work with interventional endoscopists, Northwestern Medicine subspecialists, and an Advanced Practice Provider to support comprehensive care, inpatient consultations, and transitions of care.
