About The Position

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is seeking a part-time Gastroenterology Hospitalist to join their team. This role offers a balance of clinical practice, collaboration, and flexibility, suitable for a physician seeking a reduced schedule while remaining involved in academic medicine and patient care. The successful candidate will work with a team dedicated to clinical excellence, education, and advancing the mission of an academic health center. The position is a dedicated inpatient role focusing on general GI inpatient consults and endoscopies, with a dedicated procedure room daily. It involves collaboration with GI Fellows to manage the GI Inpatient Consult Service and offers opportunities for teaching fellows, residents, and medical students, as well as engaging in academic and quality-improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• MD, DO, or MBBS
• Completed an accredited three-year gastroenterology training at the time of start date
• Board certified/board eligible in gastroenterology
• Outstanding communication skills to collaborate with consulting physicians and hospital leadership

Responsibilities

• Focus exclusively on general GI inpatient consults and endoscopies
• Run the GI Inpatient Consult Service with GI Fellows
• Teaching fellows, residents, and medical students
• Engaging in academic and quality-improvement initiatives
