About The Position

This is a Locum Tenens position for a Gastroenterologist in Prestonsburg, KY. The role involves clinical coverage and call duties from September 28, 2026, to December 28, 2026. The physician will provide clinic coverage Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and participate in a shared offsite call rotation with a 30-minute response time for emergencies. The patient population is described as non-compliant and sick, requiring strong communication and relationship-building skills. The facility utilizes the Meditech EMR system and provides APP support.

Requirements

• Perform Upper Endoscopies (EGD)
• Perform Colonoscopies
• Perform ERCP (mid-level / moderate complexity)
• Perform Esophageal, duodenal, or luminal stent placement
• Perform Argon plasma coagulation
• Perform Biopsies of the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, and colon
• Perform Colonoscopy with or without polypectomy
• Perform Diagnostic and therapeutic EGD
• Perform Enteral alimentation
• Perform Esophageal dilation (balloon, bougie, or Savary with guidewire)
• Perform Foreign body removal via EGD
• Perform Flexible sigmoidoscopy
• Perform GI motility studies and 24-hour pH monitoring
• Perform Non-variceal hemostasis (upper and lower)
• Perform Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)

Nice To Haves

• Providers with strong relationship building and communication skills highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide clinic coverage Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Perform general GI procedures, including upper endoscopies and colonoscopies
• Perform advanced procedures, including ERCP and esophageal stent placement
• Participate in shared call rotation with offsite after-hours response
• Engage with a non-compliant, sick patient population requiring strong communication and relationship-building skills
