About The Position

Wander Staffing is hiring four (4) Gastroenterologists for an exclusive contract supporting the VA in San Antonio, TX. This role offers locums pay with full-time stability at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital (VAMC). The position involves providing comprehensive Gastroenterology care to Veterans, with approximately 90% direct patient care. Responsibilities include seeing patients independently in outpatient clinics, managing Gastroenterological and hepatobiliary disorders, providing inpatient GI consults and rounding, and performing various endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy and EGD. The department currently has three full-time VA Gastroenterologists.

Requirements

ABIM Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any State.
BLS, ACLS.
DEA.
Must complete credentialing, privileging, and background/security vetting prior to start; process typically takes 2–3 weeks.
Respond by phone within 15 minutes when on call from home.
Arrive onsite within 60 minutes if called back.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive Gastroenterology care to Veterans.
See patients independently in outpatient Gastroenterology clinics.
Manage Gastroenterological and hepatobiliary disorders.
Provide inpatient GI consults and rounding.
Perform endoscopic procedures, including the full range of colonoscopy and EGD procedures within granted privileges.
Perform procedures such as EGD diagnostic, EGD with biopsies, EGD with banding (EVL), EGD with removal of foreign body, EGD with PEG placement, EGD with treatment of bleeding sources, EGD with dilation, flexible sigmoidoscopies, colonoscopy diagnostic, colonoscopy with treatment of bleeding sources, colonoscopy with polypectomy, colonoscopy with colonic decompression.
