About The Position
Wander Staffing is seeking four (4) Gastroenterologists for a contract supporting the VA Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. This role offers the pay of locum tenens with the stability of full-time employment. The position involves providing comprehensive Gastroenterology care to Veterans, with approximately 90% direct patient care. Responsibilities include seeing patients independently in outpatient clinics, managing Gastroenterological and hepatobiliary disorders, providing inpatient GI consults and rounding, and performing various endoscopic procedures. The department currently has three full-time VA Gastroenterologists.
Requirements
- ABIM Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any State.
- BLS, ACLS.
- DEA.
- Must complete credentialing, privileging, and background/security vetting prior to start; process typically takes 2–3 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Gastroenterology care to Veterans.
- See patients independently in outpatient Gastroenterology clinics.
- Manage Gastroenterological and hepatobiliary disorders.
- Provide inpatient GI consults and rounding.
- Perform endoscopic procedures, including the full range of colonoscopy and EGD procedures within granted privileges.
- Perform EGD diagnostic, EGD with biopsies, EGD with banding (EVL), EGD with removal of foreign body, EGD with PEG placement, EGD with treatment of bleeding sources, EGD with dilation, flexible sigmoidoscopies, colonoscopy diagnostic, colonoscopy with treatment of bleeding sources, colonoscopy with polypectomy, colonoscopy with colonic decompression.
