About The Position

The Lebanon VA Medical Center is seeking a Gastroenterologist to provide comprehensive clinical gastroenterology services. This role involves covering the full range of Gastroenterology services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility, meeting or exceeding national standards of care. The position also requires contributing to an academic environment by training and professionally developing residents rotating through the Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology Service. Responsibilities include complying with residency review documentation, ensuring all notes and encounters are completed, and appropriately documenting medical records in accordance with VA standards. Administrative duties related to resident training documentation may also be required. The Gastroenterologist will provide clinical direction and oversight to residents/fellows, consistent with accreditation guidelines, clinical research, and protocol development. This role includes performing the full range of colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy procedures. The position requires visitation of all six community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) in addition to the main campus.

Requirements

  • Must have ACLS and BLS certification.
  • Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine with declaration in Gastroenterology.
  • Must have a current, full, active and unrestricted license from any state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Cover the range of Gastroenterology services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility.
  • Ensure standards of care meet or exceed currently recognized national standards.
  • Provide an academic environment conducive to the training and professional development for residents rotating through the Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology Service.
  • Be responsible for complying with the Residency review documentation.
  • Ensure that all notes and encounters are completed and shall appropriately document medical records in accordance with VA standards.
  • Perform any administrative duties relative to documentation of resident training, as required and directed by the VA or designated representative.
  • Provide clinical direction to and oversight of residents/fellows consistent with current accreditation guidelines, clinical research, and protocol development.
  • Provide comprehensive clinical gastroenterology services including the full range of colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy procedures.
  • Visit all six community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs).
