About The Position

Seeking a Gastroenterologist for a Locum Tenens position in Richlands, VA. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient services, with coverage needed for supplemental reasons. The position is ongoing, starting ASAP, and requires clinical duties plus call.

Shift details include procedures on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (half-day), and Fridays, and outpatient clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays (half-day). Call is required on nights with a 1:1 beeper ratio and a 30-minute response time. Patient volume is estimated at 20-25 per day, with 1-2 phone consults. Rounding is included. The support staff consists of 1 APP, 2 RNs, 1 MA, and 1 Office Staff.

Key procedures and duties include Upper GI Endoscopy, Esophageal dilatation/manometry, Small Bowel Biopsy, Lower GI endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, and Colonoscopy. The EMR systems used are Athena and Meditech. Hospital privileges are required, but temporary privileges are available. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Requirements

• Active VA License
• BC/BE in Gastroenterology

Responsibilities

• Perform Upper GI Endoscopy
• Perform Esophageal dilatation/manometry
• Perform Small Bowel Biopsy
• Perform Lower GI endoscopy
• Perform Sigmoidoscopy
• Perform Colonoscopy
• Provide inpatient and outpatient clinical services
• Participate in night call duties
• Respond to beeper calls within 30 minutes
• Conduct patient rounding
• Manage patient volume of 20-25 per day
• Handle 1-2 phone consults per day
