About The Position
The Department of Transportation’s Citywide Concrete Unit supports the agency’s efforts to enhance, rehabilitate, and maintain New York City infrastructure, serving as the agency’s primary construction unit. The unit employs engineers, managers, support staff, and laborers and emphasizes cost savings, efficiency, safety, quality, and service. Under direction, the selected candidate will operate and maintain Rago and crusher machines, operate the Rago around reconstructed corners and pedestrian-upgraded islands, coordinate and communicate with supervisors and crew members, and load and unload equipment from a trailer. The candidate must ensure equipment is properly secured while being transported to various locations. This is a seasonal position running from March through December.
Requirements
- Three years of full-time satisfactory experience operating a diesel-powered roller, automatic asphalt paving machine, asphalt milling machine, or asphalt recycling plant; or at least two years of such experience plus sufficient relevant education or training from an approved trade school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience.
- Possess a valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver License without restrictions and maintain it throughout employment. Certain age requirements may apply to obtaining this license.
Responsibilities

- Operate and maintain the crusher machine.
- Coordinate and communicate with supervisors and crew members.
- Load and unload equipment from a trailer.
