About The Position

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking customer-oriented, motivated individuals to join their professional team as a Gas Fitter (Apprentice or Journeyperson). Applicants must be residing in Canada and legally entitled to work. The role involves installing, maintaining, and servicing gas construction heating units and their components, attending to gas escape calls, and advising clients on safety and maintenance. Requirements

  • Ticketed Gasfitter (A or B) or enrolled in a Gasfitter apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points).
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, service and repair a variety of heating equipment in the shop or field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with temporary construction heaters (direct and indirect fired, hydronic, electrical etc.) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of designing and installing temporary heating systems at construction sites using natural gas, propane and diesel equipment would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the safety regulations, codes and practices regarding LP/NG use, equipment servicing, permitting and installation at construction sites would be an asset.
  • Ability to read/understand building and mechanical plans, job specifications and other technical documents would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment
  • Install, maintain and service gas construction heating units and their components, such as burners, valves, and automatic controls.
  • Test and replace defective equipment or components.
  • Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices.
  • Attend to gas escape calls.
  • Prepare reports on work performed and condition of equipment.
  • Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems.
  • May repair and service gas appliances and related equipment.
  • Check equipment for damage upon return, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle
