About The Position

We are seeking experienced candidates for a West Canada Gas Analyst to support our Natural Gas Trading organization, with a specific focus on Western Canadian supply, flows, pricing hubs, and market dynamics. Successful candidates will act as a key trading resource to drive opportunity identification & capture via understanding regional supply/demand balances, economics, basis and arbitrage analysis, pipeline and storage constraints, tracking of commodity movements, trade flow analysis, and short and long term market dislocations. This includes linking with fellow trading analysts across the globe and across commodities. This role is located in Houston, Texas at our Spring Campus.

Requirements

  • Hold a BS, BBA in engineering, mathematics, economics, finance, business (or equivalent)
  • Have minimum 5 years experience in analysis field in trading shops, banks, funds, etc
  • Experience and knowledge of physical and paper markets in natural gas, preferably with exposure to Western Canadian hubs (e.g., AECO, Station 2)
  • Experience and knowledge of derivatives, risk evaluation and management techniques, or financial analyses
  • Be able to demonstrate strong numerical, analytical and modelling skills
  • Have the ability to forecast and assess impact of market changes and business decisions
  • Be able to make recommendations based on analysis
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with multi national and cross functional teams
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership paired with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience in effective two way communication with internal and external customers (oral, written, presentation, listening)
  • Strong drive, motivation and continuous improvement mindset
  • Solid proficiency in the use of computers, inclusive of programming skills across Python, R, SQL, Tableau and SAP programs
  • Interested in pursuing a career in Trading analytics and commodity market analysis

Responsibilities

  • Developing and presenting ongoing/unique trade strategies, connecting market fundamentals with proprietary insights, utilizing advanced analytics in conjunction with supply and demand models
  • Provide market forecasts on fundamentals and price to aide the trading organization
  • Providing economic analysis for opportunity evaluation and capture learnings from missed opportunities
  • Supporting derivatives trading with analysis of new and existing usage of derivative instruments related to Western Canadian gas markets
  • Developing strong collaborative relationships with key trading partners, both domestically and globally, in order to drive trade execution and value creation
  • Acting as power user of strategic tools that support trading activities: Data systems, bespoke analytical tools, Eikon, SAP
  • Contributing to special projects, strategy studies, and market entries
  • Supporting Trading Management on ad hoc business issues
