About The Position
Nemours is seeking a Gardener to join the grounds management team at Nemours Estate in Wilmington, Delaware. Built between 1910 and 1935, Nemours Estate is a public garden and a resource for patients and families of Nemours Children's Hospital. A Gardener I performs garden and grounds maintenance to maintain the property's aesthetic standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Valid driver's license.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Nemours-mandated programs.
Nice To Haves
- Three years of experience working in formal gardens.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the gardens through appropriate maintenance practices.
- Operate and maintain equipment and vehicles safely.
- Weed and clean bedding areas.
- Water as needed and directed.
- Mulch and plant seasonal flowers and woody plant materials.
- Transplant woody plant material.
- Mow and shear hedges.
- Prune evergreen and deciduous shrubs and flowering trees.
- Perform snow and ice control.
- Participate in departmental and Foundation quality assessment and improvement programs.
- Use Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Nemours-mandated programs.
- Work with department management to improve services provided.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the employee’s supervisor.
