About The Position

The Garden Shop Assistant will have a passion for plants and gardening, excellent customer service skills, and a strong work ethic. This role involves assisting customers with inquiries and purchases, providing advice on plants and gardening supplies, and maintaining an organized shop environment. The assistant will also be responsible for stocking merchandise, learning product seasonality, and ensuring displays are well-maintained. The position requires a commitment to quality customer service and may involve other projects as needed.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years and older
Safely operate a forklift and all other equipment used in the day-to-day operation of the garden shop
Demonstrate safe usage of box cutters, skid sheers, and other hand tools
Demonstrate a vast knowledge of plants & garden equipment
Great customer service skills
Good communication skills, both written and oral
Good organizational skills
The ability to multi-task

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of plants is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

Greet customers and assist them with their inquiries and purchases
Provide advice on plants, gardening tools, and landscaping materials
Maintain a clean and organized environment
Unpack and stock merchandise on shelves and displays
Learn the seasonality of Garden Shop products, including Spring, Fall, and Christmas products
Ensure displays are full and merchandised, with appropriate signage
Provides quality customer service, including interacting with customers, answering customer inquiries, and effectively handling customer complaints
Other projects, as needed
Greet customers with a friendly smile and positive attitude, ensuring that each customer feels welcome and appreciated.
Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the store, offering assistance and support where needed.
Improve and maintain the efficiency of the store in order to reach success.
Be a positive ambassador for the store, representing our S.T.E.W. values in all interactions with customers and team members.
