About The Position

The Garden Center Merchandiser serves as Costa Farms’ representative in retail garden centers around Spokane and Beaverton Valley, Washington. The role involves caring for, displaying, and replenishing Costa Farms and/or third-party products, maintaining accurate inventory, following brand merchandising standards, and helping ensure a positive experience for store personnel and consumers. Work takes place in retail garden centers, including locations such as The Home Depot, and may involve assignments across multiple stores within a designated territory. This is a hands-on, physically active position. Team members may work outdoors or in semi-covered areas in varying weather conditions and are expected to manage their time independently while meeting merchandising and operational expectations. A reliable mode of transportation is necessary. This part-time position is not eligible for Costa Farms’ company-sponsored benefit programs; paid sick leave is provided as required by Washington law. Applicants must be work-authorized, and Costa Farms will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Reliable transportation is necessary for assignments across retail locations.
Ability to use a smartphone or tablet to submit reports, photos, and updates through company platforms.
Ability to work independently, manage time, and meet merchandising and operational expectations.
Ability to perform heavy physical work, including regular lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving objects.
Ability to lift and move plant products or displays up to 50 pounds safely and push racks while exerting up to 100 pounds of force.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and reach frequently, including standing for extended periods.
Ability to work outdoors or in semi-covered environments in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and cold.
Dependability, punctuality, consistent attendance, and follow-through on responsibilities.
Ability to communicate clearly with store associates, supervisors, and internal teams and report inventory updates, issues, or store needs in a timely manner.
Ability to identify and address issues such as damaged products, inventory discrepancies, and display adjustments with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt to changing weather, seasonal product changes, and shifting schedules.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail, merchandising, or garden center experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of plant care is a plus.

Responsibilities

Keep Costa Farms and/or third-party products neatly displayed, fully stocked, and visually appealing.
Follow Costa Farms merchandising standards and planograms across stores.
Rotate inventory based on freshness and product lifecycle.
Provide professional, courteous service to stores and store personnel.
Adjust availability to business needs, including seasonal demand and additional hours outside the regular schedule, such as weekends, nights, and holidays.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information or provide assistance as needed.
Follow safety standards in stores and encourage other Costa Farms employees to do the same.
Maintain productivity and accuracy while merchandising products.
Execute tasks as directed by team members and work to improve execution and productivity.
Complete surveys and Go Spot Check missions correctly and promptly.
Track and report inventory levels using designated systems.
Arrive at assigned locations to meet with the team as needed and consistently complete the assigned schedule.
Prepare stores for tours, meetings, and other events as required.
Build and maintain respectful relationships with store personnel.
Treat consumers well by being cheerful, helpful, and friendly.
Perform additional duties as required.
