About The Position

The Garden Center Merchandiser represents Costa Farms in retail garden centers, maintaining brand standards, product presentation, inventory accuracy, and a positive customer experience. The position cares for, displays, and replenishes Costa Farms and/or third-party products in stores, following merchandising standards and planograms and rotating inventory according to freshness and product lifecycle. The role is based at retail garden centers around Watertown, Natick, Waltham, and Marlborough, Massachusetts, and may involve assignments at multiple locations within a territory. This is a physically active, hands-on role performed outdoors or in semi-covered retail environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions. Merchandisers work independently and manage their time while coordinating with store personnel and Costa Farms teams. A reliable mode of transportation is necessary. The schedule may change based on business needs, including seasonal demand and additional hours outside the regular schedule, such as weekends, nights, and holidays.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
All applicants must be authorized to work; Costa Farms will not sponsor a visa for this position.
Able to lift and move plant products or displays weighing up to 50 pounds safely.
Able to perform physically demanding work, including frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing racks, and reaching.
Able to work outdoors or in semi-covered environments in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and cold.
Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet merchandising and operational expectations.
Reliable mode of transportation for travel among assigned retail locations.
Able to use a smartphone or tablet to submit reports, photos, and updates through company platforms.
Dependable and punctual, with consistent attendance and follow-through.
Able to communicate clearly with store associates, supervisors, and internal teams and report inventory updates, issues, or store needs promptly.
Able to adjust priorities in response to changing conditions, seasonal product changes, and schedule shifts.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail, merchandising, or garden center experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of plant care is a plus.

Responsibilities

Keep Costa Farms and/or third-party products neatly displayed, fully stocked, and visually appealing.
Follow merchandising standards and planograms to maintain consistency across stores.
Rotate inventory according to freshness and product lifecycle.
Provide professional, courteous service to stores and store personnel.
Adjust availability and schedule as business needs change, including seasonal demands and additional hours.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide support as needed.
Follow safety standards and encourage other Costa Farms employees to do the same.
Merchandise products with high productivity and accuracy, and execute tasks as directed by team members.
Learn quickly and continually improve execution and productivity.
Complete surveys and Go Spot Check missions correctly and promptly.
Track and report inventory using designated systems.
Report to assigned locations to meet with the team as needed and complete the assigned schedule consistently.
Prepare stores for tours, meetings, and other events as required.
Build and maintain respectful relationships with store personnel.
Treat consumers well by being cheerful, helpful, and friendly.
Perform additional duties as required.
