About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is hiring Garbage Truck-Collection Helpers. This position involves collecting and loading refuse from customer locations into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle. The role is primarily hands-on and requires assisting the driver with maneuvering and collection. The company is a progressive provider of solid waste and recycling services, serving Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and has expanded operations into Pennsylvania and Ohio. Requirements

Must meet physical standards including the ability to constantly lift, push, and pull waste bags and receptacles weighing approximately 50-75+ lbs.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Applicants must be a team-player as the job is spent in close quarters with other staff members that all rely on one another.

Nice To Haves

Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Collect and load refuse from customer locations into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle, primarily by hand.
Transfer refuse in a timely and safe manner from customer stops to the vehicle.
Assist the driver while maneuvering into positions for collection and disposal.
Maintain and partake in daily clean-up of the vehicle.
Learn garbage routes to better assist the driver.
Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
