About The Position
The Garage Mechanic repairs automotive and heavy-duty diesel plant and quarry mobile equipment. The role involves diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing engines, transmissions, electrical systems, air conditioning units, and other components of mobile equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience working on diesel engines.
- Prior experience with Cummins Insight, QuickServe, J Pro, and Service Ranger 4.
- Familiarity with diagnostic mechanic software and computers.
- Familiarity with UltraShift transmissions.
- Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibility.
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, lift up to 70 pounds, and bend for extended periods of up to 8 hours.
- Ability to walk on uneven or slippery surfaces and climb on equipment.
- Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs, and stockpiles, and stoop and crawl under and into enclosed spaces.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, dry, and dusty conditions, and near hot kiln processes.
- Ability to work around all noise levels, with use of hearing protection as required.
- Ability to work around cement, clay, limestone, and various chemicals.
- Ability to work in environments involving heat, dust, vibration, heights, and confined spaces.
- Successful candidates must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screening, and background check.

- Knowledge of all types of equipment used in cement manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble and overhaul engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, and other assemblies on diesel- and gasoline-powered equipment.
- Grind valves, adjust brakes, align wheels, straighten frames, and repair fuel pumps.
- Perform welding, brazing, cutting, or fabrication on engine-powered equipment.
- Maintain air conditioning units on all mobile equipment.
- Repair and troubleshoot mobile equipment electrical systems.
- Maintain cleanliness in facility areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
