About The Position

Connecticut Natural Gas Corporation is hiring one union Garage Mechanic at its CNG location in East Hartford, Connecticut. The hourly rate is $44.43–$52.14. This is a DOT safety-sensitive position. Applicants transferring into the position from a non-safety-sensitive role must pass a drug screen.

The mechanic locates defects in automotive, construction, and other equipment; inspects, adjusts, and repairs equipment; and assists with computerized inspection, maintenance, and inventory records. The role also includes body repair and maintenance, and other work related to automotive and construction equipment. Duties may include servicing equipment used to operate and fuel compressed natural gas vehicles, such as compressors and filling-station equipment, and completing certified warranty work for vehicle manufacturers. The role may involve handling hazardous waste; the company will provide training to meet 40 CFR 265.16 requirements. Related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Read, write, and speak English effectively.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work safely and physically perform required work on motor vehicles, construction equipment, and other machinery.
• Prior vocational training and experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Valid MVD license and a good driving record.
• Applicants transferring from a non-safety-sensitive position must pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Locate defects in automotive, construction, and other equipment.
